Note: I don't expect any of you to understand a word I'm saying here.
Proud. Loyal. Passionate.
These are the three words that the Fremantle Football Club uses to describe its fans and that is exactly what we are. It's not easy being a Freo fan - apart from the odd glimmer of hope here and there, our results in the AFL have been mediocre at best. In 15 years of existence, we have only managed a total of six games in September, never having won consecutively. If we supporters can look past that and stay true, you know we're the real deal.
My first visit to the MCG did not turn out quite as expected, with Geelong having smashed the Dockers by 69 points in the semi-final match. In spite of the rather lacklustre display, I was reminded of the season that had been. Compared to their 15th placing in 2009, managing a home final by finishing 6th after 22 rounds is admirable. This is largely due to a group of first and second year players who, while they still seek consistency, provide flair and speed to the Dockers' game. Things are definitely looking up.
We Freo fans know what it's like to be disappointed.
We know what it's like to have our hearts broken.
But someday, hopefully soon, we will know what it's like to be victorious.
Go the Dockers!
I UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU'RE SAYING!
ReplyDeletesorry, that excites me.
But i'm a lions fan... you have my sympathies.
Ah, I can't believe I forgot about you!
ReplyDeleteYour Lions must've disappointed you towards the end of the year after such a wonderful start to the season. And the Fevola business must not help. My condolences.
